Hello… My name is Josh Renouf
I’m a Designpreneur
A bit about me
I’m an award-winning British designer with a passion for tech, gadgets, experience, luxury, and sustainability. My journey began with a degree in product design, where I developed The Barisieur (a coffee and tea brewing alarm clock) as my final-year project. Designed in my university dorm room, the concept quickly gained traction, going viral and leading me to crowdfund over $750,000 in 2016.
This success laid the foundation for Joy Resolve, the company I founded to bring beautifully designed, experience-driven products to life. Over the years, we expanded our range beyond The Barisieur, shipping to 56+ countries and securing retail partnerships with Selfridges, Harrods, Neiman Marcus, and Virgin Megastores.

Award Winning
Make it stand out.
This showreel highlights my ability to pitch, educate, and engage—bringing products to life through compelling narratives and impactful visuals. From presenting on camera to crafting viral campaigns, I’ve developed content that not only informs but captivates audiences. Featuring a mix of brand storytelling, influencer collaborations, and strategic marketing, these campaigns for Joy Resolve and Mous showcase how I translate product details into emotion-driven messaging that resonates with consumers. My approach blends digital marketing, community engagement, and creative production to turn interest into action and drive real results.
Manufacturing
I gained extensive hands-on experience in manufacturing and product development, overseeing the journey from concept to production and global distribution. Our products incorporated a diverse range of materials. Glass, wood, metal, injection-moulded plastics, and PCB boards—each requiring precise engineering, sourcing, and quality control.
Managing production involved coordinating with multiple factories, ensuring rigorous QA/ QC standards, and fine-tuning assembly processes to maintain consistency at scale. Beyond manufacturing, the logistical complexity was equally demanding—shipping products across multiple warehouses worldwide, navigating customs, and balancing cost efficiencies with lead times.
On Screen
The Barisieur was the hero product of Joy Resolve that captivated audiences around the world. Featured on The Gadget Show, This Morning in Australia, Fox News, Japan TV, and many more, our flagship innovation made waves globally. As the founder, it was incredibly rewarding to see my vision resonate on such a grand scale, sparking innovation and building awareness in new territories. The Barisieur has bridged the gap between modern social media channels and traditional TV, reaching people who might not have been accessible otherwise, and truly embodying the spirit of creative, cross-media impact.
Crowd-Equity Funding on Crowdcube.
Through Crowdcube, we raised £252,574 to support business development and growth at Joy Resolve. Unlike traditional crowdfunding, crowd-equity funding requires a compelling investment pitch, robust financial projections, and a clear vision to attract investors who are looking for equity in the company rather than a product.
Reward-Based Crowdfunding: Kickstarter & Indiegogo
With Kickstarter & Indiegogo, I have successfully launched 3 campaigns, raising over £850,000 for Joy Resolve and helping Mous raise £2 Million for their initial protective phone case.
These platforms allow for direct consumer engagement, testing product-market fit before manufacturing, and generating early revenue through pre-orders.
Linear to Circular Thinking
As the founder of a hardware company, I saw firsthand the challenges of linear consumption and the environmental impact of product design. Despite striving to create modular and repairable products, I quickly realised that transitioning to a truly circular system is far easier said than done. While we embraced a repair and recycle mentality, the reality of manufacturing, supply chains, and consumer habits often stood in the way of closing the loop. This experience reinforced my belief that true circularity starts at the design stage—by creating products built to last, made for disassembly, and designed with end-of-life recovery in mind. Equally important is how we educate consumers to move beyond disposable habits and embrace sustainable ownership models. The future of design isn’t just about making better products—it’s about reshaping how we interact with them from creation to disposal.
